Hello friends,
Alex Chilton, the singer of The Box Tops (they had a No. 1 hit with "The Letter") and later went on to influence a generation of musicians with his work in Big Star, died Wednesday in New Orleans. He was 59. Alex was a musicians musician. Those are the cats that don't make much money, but make the guys who copy them millions. Alex was a brilliant musician and song writer and will be missed...and friends, when I say brilliant, I don't mean 'real good' or 'he's sumthin' else' I mean brilliant...got it?
